Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Policy

Purpose

To ensure the correct PPE is provided, used, and maintained to protect workers from identified hazards.

Scope

All workers, contractors, and visitors at [YOUR BUSINESS NAME].

Important Note

PPE is the last line of defence in the hierarchy of controls. It must always be used in conjunction with other control measures — never as the only control.

PPE Standards

All PPE must comply with relevant Australian Standards:

  • Safety boots: AS/NZS 2210
  • Safety helmets: AS/NZS 1801
  • Safety glasses/goggles: AS/NZS 1337
  • Hearing protection: AS/NZS 1270
  • Hi-vis clothing: AS/NZS 4602
  • Gloves: AS/NZS 2161 (as applicable)
  • Respiratory protection: AS/NZS 1715/1716 (as applicable)
  • PPE Provision and Replacement

  • [YOUR BUSINESS NAME] will provide all mandatory PPE at no cost to workers.
  • Workers must report damaged or worn PPE immediately for replacement.
  • PPE is recorded in the PPE Issue Register (REG-008).
  • Worker Responsibilities

  • Wear PPE as required for your work area and task.
  • Inspect PPE before each use and report defects.
  • Store PPE correctly when not in use.
  • Do not modify or misuse PPE.
