Electrical Safety Policy

Purpose
To manage electrical risks and ensure compliance with the Electrical Safety Act 2002 (Qld).
Scope
All workers, contractors, and visitors at [YOUR BUSINESS NAME].
Key Rules
- Only licensed electricians may perform electrical installation, repair, or maintenance work.
- All portable electrical equipment must be tested and tagged in accordance with AS/NZS 3760 and the Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 (Qld).
- Residual Current Devices (RCDs) must be used with all portable electrical equipment in the warehouse and yard.
- Damaged or faulty electrical equipment must be immediately removed from service and tagged "OUT OF SERVICE".
- Extension leads must not be used as permanent wiring. Use only as a temporary measure.
- Do not use electrical equipment near water or in wet conditions unless it is rated for that purpose.
- Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) procedures must be followed before performing any maintenance on electrical equipment.
Test and Tag Requirements

Electrical Incident Response
If you witness an electrical incident:
- Do not touch the person if they are still in contact with the electrical source.
- Turn off the power at the switchboard if safe to do so.
- Call 000 immediately.
- Do not approach until the power is confirmed off.
